Marie Deuflhard

Marie Deuflhard

Born and raised in Berlin, Marie Deuflhard studied physics in Freiburg and Leipzig, graduating with a Master’s degree and a publication on the deformation of ferrogels. During this time, she trained in contemporary dance and performance.

She has choreographed her own short pieces and performed in the Leipzig independent scene as well as in 2019 as a dancer in José Vidal’s new production “Emergenz” at Kampnagel, Hamburg and at the Santiago a Mil Festival, Santiago de Chile. Since 2019, she has turned her passion into her profession and established herself in curatorial and cultural policy work in the independent performing arts.

She worked as a curatorial assistant for the WIESBADEN BIENNALE and, together with Martin Hammer, received a teaching assignment for Performing Arts at the LungA School, Seydisfjördur, Iceland; responsible for the staff unit for third-party funding acquisition at JenaKultur and project management in the program area of the Fonds Darstellende Künste.

She has been part of the africologne festival management since 2024.
