MAMA AFRICA

Mama Afrika is a percussion group that was founded in Dakar, Senegal in 1987 and has been one of the most colorful African groups in Germany for several years. The African collective is made up of percussionists, dancers, acrobats and singers whose repertoire is based on the ex-ploding rhythms of the sabar and djembe drums, paired with concise phrases from the small tama hourglass drum and the harmonious sounds of the balaphone and the kora. Together they capture the hearts of the audience with their unique performances, but never lose sight of the intercultural communication of their activities to promote mutual respect and understanding. The artists of Mama Afrika are committed to their rich African tradition and are true masters on their instruments. A life without music is unimaginable for them, because music means life in Africa.
