Cédric Brossard is positive about the ongoing complex relationship of the former colonial power France with Africa. This relationship is the starting point of Brossard’s trilogy on the industrial history of France. Brossard commissioned the writer Gustave Akakpo for the first part of the three-part project, Bolando, König der Zigeuner (Balando, King of the Gypsies), and now, for the second part Traque (Hunt) the Guinean author Hakim Bah. The play, written in the form of a neo-Western, revolves around postcolonial dominance, family entanglements and capitalist exploitation and is laced with a generous dose of black humor. Using realism as a springboard, aspects of the Western are explored: duels, saloons, undertakers … you name it! The main character is inspired by the French entrepreneur Martin Bouygues. Today the Bouygues Group is involved in in the fields of building construction and civil engineering, in public construction and infrastructure projects. The group is considered a digital leader in energy, digital and industrial transformation.
