africologneFESTIVAL 2021

The sixth edition of africologneFESTIVAL took place from May 28th - June 6th in Cologne. We were delighted to bring more than 20 events and live streams, ranging from theatre, dance, performance, music, film to staged readings of new works and much more. Due to the 7-day incidence in Cologne the earliest date for a live screening was May 31 at the venue Odonien (Film Documentary On a le temps pour nous). Our festival centre was again in the Alte Feuerwache (close to Ebertplatz).

All events were streamed online and some productions were still available as Video on Demand:  Traque-Treibjagd & Le syndrome de la Pintade - Das Perlhuhn-Syndrom.

Due to the pandemic situation we have also rescheduled some of our events. In September we invited the theatre productions Congo Jazz Band and Romeo and Juliet in Kampala as well as the exhibition BEYOND III, whose partner we were. One of the highlights was  the 3rd diversCITY day at Ebertplatz on 11 Sept. as closing of our festival edition this year.

Advance booking for streaming content was available on our website. Tickets could also be purchased on www.dringeblieben.de.

Most events were followed by talkbacks with the artists, available online.

We are honoured that the Mayor of Cologne, Henriette Reker, remained Patron of our festival.
